Biography
Enrique Alarcón was a Spanish architect and film set designer. Throughout his 44-year career (1940-1984), he worked on more than 260 films, including masterpieces of Spanish cinema such as Tristana, Muerte de un ciclista, and Calle Mayor. He also collaborated with all the great Spanish film directors of the era, such as Luis Buñuel, Luis García Berlanga, Juan Antonio Bardem, and Carlos Saura, among others, as well as with international directors like Nicholas Ray and Anthony Mann. He received countless awards and distinctions, most notably the Goya Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1990, making him the only set designer to have received this honor to date.
