Biography

Emily has always been attracted to dark stories and twisted, conflicted characters and has a passion for thriller and horror. She recently completed her 6th short film, Stop Dead, a proof of concept for horror feature The Still Man, with Shadowhouse Films (Host, Dashcam) and BFI Vision Award recipient, Lunar Lander Films. Emily has directed five other short films: comedy horror It Should Have Been Me for Sky Arts Halloween Comedy Shorts, with Merman producers Clelia Mountford and Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe); political thriller Cold Warrior which was invited to screen at the ASFF's special 10th Anniversary edition 2020. The film UK Premiered at the Edinburgh IFF, won the Best Short Film Youth Jury Award at Flickers: Rhode Island IFF and the Meeting Point Special Mention Award at the Seminci Valladolid FF; thriller A Neutral Corner, which won Best Short Film at the Kodak Showcase, and was the Opening Night film at the Dinard British FF in front of Ken Loach's It's A Free World; horror Snow which was Official Selection at the New York FF in front of Hong Sang Soo's Tale Of Cinema and thriller The Button, her very first short, which was Best Digital Film Nominee at Raindance. Emily has been selected for prestigious talent programmes including the EIFF Talent Lab, Guiding Lights, the Berlinale Talent Campus, the PFM Micromarket, BFI Think-Shoot-Distribute, UK Film Council's Digital Nation and the BFI Network & BAFTA Crew.
