Silvia Sommerlath, a young German woman from a middle-class family, and Crown Prince Carl Gustaf of Sweden fall in love during the 1972 Summer Olympics. Public pressure, political adversity, and the prospect of a life marked by duty and lack of freedom threaten their love.
